Radar images show recent observations, while some layers are forecasts. Observation and forecast are not the same: always check the legend, frame time and forecast horizon.

Observations and forecasts on the map

The map helps separate recent observations from modelled forecasts. Radar layers estimate precipitation that has already been detected, while forecast layers show how computer models expect conditions to evolve. Before reading colours or animation, check the legend, measurement units, geographic scale, and displayed time. The timestamp tells you whether a frame represents the past, near-real-time conditions, or a future step. Zoom level and data resolution can hide small local differences, so use the map for spatial context and compare it with the written forecast for the place and period that matter to you.

Forecasts describe likely scenarios and do not replace alerts or official authority communications.
